Schedule regular reboots

If your server is left running for long periods of time it can behin to suffer from performance issues that are often related to resouce leaks.

A resource leak occurs when an application fails to release the resources when it no longer needs them. Over time these leaked resources can build up and lead to system slowdowns, instability or even crashes.

One surefire way to mitigate these occurrences is to perform regular reboots of your machine. Obvviously server uptime is of paramount importance to our clients and as such we recommend that these reboots are performed outside of market hours or over the weekend.

Perform Windows Updates

Keeping your Windows Server up to date is another recommended best practice. Windows Updates provide security updates, bug fixes, performance updates and an overally improved user experience.

Due to the need for a reboot after installation, Windows Updates are disabled as standard on all of our servers. This is to avoid interruptions to your trading or any other services you are running on your server.

Ensure you have the required resources

Sometimes, no matter how much care you take to ensure that your server is running at its maximum capacity, you may not have the required resources to run all the applications you would like.

Programs like MetaTrader and even Google Chrome can be very resource intensive, so ensuring that your machine has enough memory and processing power can be crucial to seamless operation.
